The Lindy Diner is a weekly Swing Dance night (Tuesdays) at Rivets Sports and Social Club in Aylesbury. Andy and Anna teach two Lindy Hop classes at beginner and intermediate levels. There's a short freestyle between the classes and an hour of freestyle at the end.
We do our best to open every Tuesday so you don't have to worry about dropping in and finding we are not there.
Our next planned closure will be a 2 week break at Christmas - so no class on December 20th or 27th - back on January 3rd 2012.
If you'd like to receive information (such as closures or special nights) on the Lindy Diner from time to time, please send an email to Andy andy@rockbottoms.com
Rivets is a fabulous venue, with sprung dance floor, air conditioning, reasonably priced licensed bar, and ample parking.

Andy has been 3 times UK Lindy Hop champion and has a vast amount of knowledge to share with you.
Anna has a very natural Lindy technique, and any lady could learn a style point or two from simply watching her.
They both love teaching and are happy to answer any questions in class, or go over things after class.

Whitehead Way is at the Aylesbury end of Mandeville Road. There is a clear sign for Rivets Club at the entrance to Whitehead Way, though there is no sign on the building itself.
Keep left as you enter Whitehead Way and look out for large building on your left. Entrance to car park is just past this building.
We make every effort to ensure absolute beginners can keep up with the pace in this class, but we also include tips and techniques for all levels. Newcomers may take a week or two to find their feet, but please don't be put off - before long your feet will be picking up those swinging rhythms without too much concentration. That'll allow you to focus on leading or following those fabulous fun figures.
If you're coming to the Lindy Diner for the first time, your beginner class is FREE!
Although a talented few may start this level after 6 months, it is more normal to not reach this level until you are a year into your Lindy Hop. You will find huge variety in this class, and you'll not only learn some fabulous figures, but also we cover musicality, lead/follow, breaks - basically everything to do with having a great dance. When you think you are ready for this, just ask Andy or Anna to see if they agree.
Between the two classes there will be 10 minutes of freestyle with straight forward swing music suitable for practicing the first lesson, or anything else you have in your repertoire.
Following the intermediate lessons (around 9:30pm), we play an hour and a quarter of swing music covering various tempos and styles. We aim to offer a mix suitable for all Lindy Hoppers, so if we aren't playing your favorites just let us know and we'll see what we can do for the following week. |
