At ijig we teach two forms of dance, namely Modern Jive and Argentine Tango. We aim to provide the best teaching possible and we believe we acheive that through Mick & Jo and Asta & Beto. Mick & Jo - Funky Modern Jive Mick and Jo have 15 years teaching experience between them in both Modern Jive and Street Dance. They've taught for all of the major jive organisations including Rock Bottoms, Jump “n” Jive, Hipsters, Monster Jive Cocktail and Ceroc. Mick's Titles include Double Trouble champion (with Viktor and Lydia) and 2nd place at the Jive Masters Championship. Jo has an extensive knowledge of Street Dance, Hip Hop and Choreography.
Mick Wenger
Mick was introduced to modern jive way back in 1994 by Viktor Andeke. At this point, he sparked a passion for dance which still burns to this day, and inspired him to co-create ijig four years ago. He has competed many times but most memorably won the Double Trouble title in 1999 at The Empire Leicester Square and came second in The Jive Masters, 2003. With over fifteen years teaching experience on the modern jive circuit in the UK and abroad, he is now one of the most respected and loved modern jive teachers in the country. Mick has sat on several modern jive judging panels and ultimately has a keen eye for style, musicality and fusions of partner dancing.
Jo Steele
Jo started dancing and performing through Gymnastics at the age of 4. She was the youngest member of the Great Britain National Squad at the age of 10, winning various competition titles throughout the UK. As a teenager & young adult, Jo was teaching children to perform through Street Dance classes which led to creating numerous team cabarets & performances. She has a real passion for adding personality & character to all routines. Asta & Beto - Argentine Tango
Alberto Ortiz has 10 years work of teaching and dancing tango in Buenos Aires (Argentina). For the past few years he has specialized in salon style tango with well known maestros of this style, Jorge and Marita Dispari (Buenos Aires). Asta Moro is a professionally trained musician.
Asta spent 4 years specialising in Argentinean Tango, attending Tango schools, taught by tango stars such as Miguel Zotto and Pablo Veron, to develop her unique style. Asta and Alberto (Beto) formed a partnership in France whilst working with international teachers and dancers Adrian and Amanda Costa , at the same tango salon school in La Rocholle. Asta and Alberto have recently established themselves as two of the sought after dance teachers in England. |
